Here’s a poem I sent to WHAS Radio personality Milton Metz after his last evening broadcast of “Metz Here” in 1993. I still have my scribbled rough draft and his gracious handwritten thank you note.
METZ HERE
As we heard “Metz Here”
Over the years
We shared many laughs
And cried a few tears
For you were our neighbor
Over the fence
Who heard what we said
And knew what we meant.
You listened,
You probed,
You prompted,
You reached.
But you never were rude
And you put us at ease.
So you need not look back
With any regret
Because–MILTON METZ—
To us, you’re the best!
