Has the COVID-19 pandemic unexpectedly plunged your home, your neighborhood, your world into a cold, dark, unfriendly place to be? Where’s a light to navigate your steps from one place to another? Psalm 119:105 says God’s Word provides that illumination which not only lets you see where your feet are right now but shines a light on the direction you need to go.
As a former high school foreign language teacher, I love to read God’s Word in more than one language. English, of course, is my native tongue. French was my major study in college, Spanish my minor study, and I dabbled in German. I’ve also discovered a fabulous website where you can find hundreds of translations of the Bible where you may be able to find your heart language—the language which speaks most intimately to your inner being. Some of these are available not only for you to read, but also to listen to. Go to YouVersion.com for information on reading and hearing Scriptures on your computer, your smart phone, and your tablet. You can download a free app or simply use it without a download.
Choose from one of the versions I’ve copied for you below or go to YouVersion for another. Don’t just read it with your eyes. Say the short verse out loud. Copy it on an index card and put it on your bathroom mirror or your nightstand—a place where it is visible everyday for the next week. Commit the verse to memory so when dark shadows begin to overwhelm you, you have a mantra to give you strength and encouragement.
