It has always been true that the world has a way of catching us off guard. Many of us like to think we have our life in control. Especially if we were fortunate enough to be born into a comfortable middle-class family, we have been taught to work hard and life will reward you. Pestilence, natural disasters, and war intervene, toppling our achievements.
In the midst of what is happening, we all need hope! Sharing words of hope and encouragement is going to be my focus as I take a sabbatical from new posts for a short while and reach back to republish some of my prior writings.
Work Brings Hope
Maybe in these times of our COVID-19 pandemic you are beginning to feel hopeless, or at the very least anxious, about the future. If so, let me ask you this question, “What work are you doing?” Naturally, I don’t know your circumstances. On furlough from your job? Laid off from your job? Unable to work?
We must realize that whatever our adverse situation, any type of individual work which occupies our body and our mind is able to bring hope to our spirit and many times hope to where we are. Therefore if the job which used to take up most of your day is not available to you right now–for your own mental, physical, and spiritual health–look around and see if there is another job at hand which you could do.
Read and memorize the following verse of Scripture in your preferred language so it can be your mantra this week. Try applying it going forward to see if you can tap into the God spark which is able to sustain you.
English: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV (Holy Bible King James Version 1611)
English: Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. Ecclesiastes 9:10 NIV 11 (Holy Bible New International Version 2011)
Prediger 9:10 DELUT (Lutherbibel 1912)
