THE BEAUTY OF THE UNIVERSE (Finding Beauty Series, #5)

There is so much beauty in nature that it is easy for me to believe there had to be a ‘Creative Spark’ which caused it all to begin. I step outside my back door and am immediately struck by the color and vibrancy of my tiger lilies. Although tiger lilies come in many colors, mine are melon orange with yellow stripes radiating from their yellow base down to the tips of their petals and accented by a deeper pumpkin orange at the lower edge of the stripe. They have a very detailed design but are only enjoyable for a brief season. Then they wither but come back to life the next year without any fussy gardening by me!

Permit me to address briefly a concept of an explosive happening occurring billions of years ago. In addition to being the name of a popular television series which ran from 2007 to 2019, the ‘Big Bang Theory’ according to one of NASA’s websites for children https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/big-bang/en/ originated with astronomer Georges Lemâitre in 1927.

Lemaître came up with an idea which someone else later dubbed the ‘Big Bang Theory’ of a single point of light and energy expanding and stretching until over billions of years stars, galaxies, planets, and black holes eventually created the universe we live in and which continues to change. As I am primarily an author of children’s books and like to make ideas simple enough for a child to understand, I’ll not get into any definition more complex than that!

The ‘Big Bang theory’ may be true. But I do not envision these expandings and stretchings as haphazard events. I believe there had to be a Creative Being who initiated and orchestrated it all. It is much easier for me to believe in in a ‘Creative Spark’ than to believe this ‘thing’ happened to bump into that ‘thing’ until voilà the intricacies of all life developed.

How long it took for the universe to be created doesn’t bother me either as God’s view of time is not the same as ours. The Holy Scriptures tell us, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8 The Holy Bible NIV–New International Version).

In fact, I see everything made—whether over a great expanse of time or in the twinkling of an eye—not only as a testimony to divine creation but also as a testimony to the attributes of God the Creator. The Holy Bible states this in the first chapter of the book of Romans in the twentieth verse where we are made aware that all persons are without excuse for not believing because of the magnificent proclamation of the universe. For your clearer understanding of this concept, let me present this verse below not only in English but also in Spanish, in French, and in German. And may this ‘God of the Universe’ or ‘Beauty of the Universe’ give you understanding of mind and spirit.

English: For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20 The Holy Bible (NIV) New International Version.
