On the Other Side

My dear friend Ruthe Chambers Lusk died a few days ago. My first reaction of shock insulated me from breaking down in tears upon learning of her death. However, her passing was the first thing on my mind when I awoke this morning and little streams of hurt flowed down my cheeks.

Ruthe, ten years my senior, and I went to college together as early marriage and family responsibilities had delayed her post-high-school secondary education. She proved herself, however, a force to be reckoned with as she attended classes full-time and managed a home with a husband and three children.

My delight is knowing that she is now “on the other side.” She spent her entire life getting ready for this adventure. And I picture her now mingling with family and friends and her professed Lord. May we all be ready for a day when we will be “on the other side.” ON THE OTHER SIDE of this life’s struggles and difficulties. And in the presence of peace.
