Introducing My Snippet Toolbox

I recently placed online the one hundredth post of my NONNY’S BLOG which I created in the spring of 2018. I am very appreciative that many of you, my readers, have followed me regularly on a weekly basis as I’ve posted every Friday morning at about 9:05. I would love for more of you to sign up to receive an email notice when my new blog post is posted! And be assured I will not share your email address.

Should you care to, if you are viewing this post on a computer, look to your right and you will see a place to enter your email address. If you are viewing this post on a phone or smaller screen, scroll down below this post to where it says “Follow Nonny’s Blog” to enter your email address.

By following my blog you’ve tapped into my comic narrations, poetry/lyrics, essays, and children’s stories. You’ve celebrated holidays with me through my family’s photo albums. And I’m glad to say that lots of you keep coming back!

I’ve shared with you an important part of who I am as I identify myself as “Nonny, the grandmother to five—three guys and two girls.” I also identify myself as a teacher. And I meld the two as I have been very fortunate to be able to spend time with my grandchildren sharing my love for creating whether it is in cooking, sewing, gardening, or music. I have also always felt a huge responsibility to pass along the virtues of love, honesty, doing what’s right and our family spiritual values.

With that train of thought, I’m hoping to reach into a toolbox of snippets to help you make the most of the life that you’ve been given. I’ve collected these over my lifetime and I will pull out one every week or so for your reflection or enjoyment. You can expect snippets to include: 1) Wise Sayings, 2) Quotable Quotes, and 3) Spiritual Insights.

The snippet, by its own definition, will be brief and my comment will be brief. I intend to write just enough to give you something maybe to think about in a different way. And also maybe you’ll find a way to put that thought into practice until we meet again through my blog!

Here’s our starter snippet for today:

During the January 7, 2020 airing of Alex Trebek’s television game show “Jeopardy” the contestants James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings, and Brad Rutter were competing to achieve the title as the Greatest of All Time Jeopardy player. In the category “Presidents & the Bible” here was one of their questions: In 1925 Calvin Coolidge was sworn in with a Bible open to this six-word first line of the Gospel according to John.

All three contestants answered correctly. And, by the way, the answer was one of the very, very few that I knew: “In the beginning was the Word…” John 1:1 KJV (King James Version) & NIV (New International Version). I’ll give my brief comment on this Bible verse next time in an answer from THE SNIPPET TOOLBOX!
