Here’s our starter snippet from last week, followed by my energetic reflection…
During the January 7, 2020 airing of Alex Trebek’s television game show “Jeopardy” the contestants James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings, and Brad Rutter were competing to achieve the title as the Greatest of All Time Jeopardy player. In the category “Presidents & the Bible” here was one of their questions: in 1925 Calvin Coolidge was sworn in with a Bible open to this six-word first line of the Gospel according to John.
All three contestants answered correctly. “In the beginning was the Word…” John 1:1 KJV (King James Version) & NIV (New International Version).
I love words. Words are the building blocks of our human speech. Being able to communicate with words separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.
Consider finding energy for your thoughts and actions by including the mental exercise of reading a portion of a sacred, philosophical, or poetic work every day. I read some part of The Holy Bible each day and find that it encompasses all three categories.
I like the way the Reina Valera Spanish version of the Bible translates the above quotation. “En el principio era el Verbo…” Juan Capítulo 1, Versículo 1.
“El Verbo” in Spanish translates to “the Word” and also “the Verb” in English. So, it’s not just being. It is doing, creating, living.
To have energy for what life throws at you, choose what you are going to read each day and then act on it!
