Lamps to Help Us See Our Way Through Life

Just as the beams from the lamp of a lighthouse cut through the nighttime sky to guide sea vessels safely to shore, so the Bible–God’s Holy Word–provides lamps to help us navigate this journey we call life. Today’s blog post begins a new snippet series. Each entry will be a ‘lamp.’ And each lamp will be brief in words but a nugget of wisdom for reflection. Perhaps you’ll take these words to heart in your “heart language” (your mother tongue). Or maybe you’ll find here a language you are studying. Enjoy Psalm 119:105 as it is translated below into English, French, Spanish, and German.

English: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. NIV (New International Version)

Français: Ta parole est une lampe devant mes pas, une lumière qui éclaire mon sentier. NFC (Nouvelle Français Courant)

Español: Tu palabra es una lámpara a mis pies y una luz en mi camino. DHH94 (Dios Habla Hoy 1994)

Deutsch: Dein Wort ist meine Fußes Leuchte und ein Licht auf meinem Wege. DELUT (Lutherbibel 1912)
