People from all walks of life, much like you, have been awe-struck by the intervention of a Creator of the heavens and what we know as earth since the beginning of recorded history. The Bible in both its Old and New Testaments speaks of personal witnesses to events which stop us in our tracks and cause us to reflect on the quote found in Psalm 8:4 which says “What is man that You are mindful of Him?” NKJV (New King James Version).
A paraphrase of this quote might be “In the greater scheme of things, how is it that the God of the universe knows about me and cares about what happens to me?” This realization is repeatedly recorded in Scripture:
by Moses—a simple sheep herder—who took off his sandals and bowed before the presence of God that he witnessed in a burning bush (Exodus 3:1-5);
by Saul—first a persecutor of Christians and then a preacher of the Gospel—who was struck blind on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-19);
by Mary Magdalene—one of Jesus’ inner group of female followers—who thought the body of Jesus had been stolen as she weeps at His empty tomb (John 20:11-18);
and by Jesus and His disciples out on a fishing boat when a storm erupts but is calmed by the sound of His voice (Matthew 8:23-27).

My prayer for you and me in our modern days: “Most Holy God, speak to our hearts and our minds today. May we stop to listen as you reveal your perfect will for our lives.”
